If you know where the newspaper is/was published, use the interactive Map Search to select the country, region and place of publication. This feature can also be helpful when you want to see other publications from the same area.

To begin searching for resources enter keywords into the basic search bar on the Access World News (Newsbank) homepage and select search. Keywords could include a name, a topic, an event, a phrase etc. You can use boolean search operators to join your search terms to refine and improve the accuracy of your results.
You can search for resources by date at the start of your search, or later when viewing the results page. To apply date parameters at the beginning of your search, select the More Search Options or Date Search button under the search bar on the homepage of the database. This will navigate you to an advanced search function with two search bar rows. In the second row, enter a date or date range. Then in the dropdown menu to the right, select Date(s) as the field you want to search by. Date(s) is the default search field and this may be pre-selected when the page loads.
Note: You can use any date format, for example d/m/y, dd/mm/yy, past 2 days, 2016 etc.
To filter your results after searching, select the Date selector tool on the left hand side of the results page.

Access World News (Newsbank) has several filtering options that you can apply to your search on the results page. First, enter a set of keywords in the basic or advance search bar. Then, once the results page has loaded, use the filtering options on the left hand side of the page to restrict your search further.
There are two primary ways to find resources in Access World News (Newsbank) by subject:
1) Find by Hot Topics
Each month, the database updates it Hot Topics containing a curated selection of significant events or topics circulating current affairs on a global scale. Each topic/event has a brief description, a set of search terms (otherwise referred to as a search string) and prompt questions to help you think about the topic more deeply. Access this by selecting Hot Topics under the Quicklinks box on the homepage of Access World News (Newsbank).
2) Find by Suggested Topics
The Suggested Topics search function allows you to search for information by category. This search option is available underneath the Basic Search bar on the homepage. Access World News (Newsbank) groups information into 15 key topics and each topic has several sub-categories within it. This search function is helpful for initial searches and each search can be filtered further on the results page.
